For this setup I used 5 threaded rods vertically. Three of the rods were longer than the other 2. During assembly, I drilled holes in the plastic grille shell that lined up with the threaded rods, then carefully installed the billet assembly. Once installed, I simply put a nut on the end of each threaded rod to hold it in place.
For a phantom grille you will probably need 7 vertical threaded rods. Keep in mind, I used a heat gun to roll the plastic grille shell inward so I had places to put the holes. This setup will probably not work very well with a chrome grille. For that type of install you will probably need to be able to weld aluminum.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try it out.
I'm thinking of selling the chrome grill to a guy at work and getting his standard grill. On the other hand there is a guy at my work that used to weld and was talking about welding aluminum.
Either way it was a sweet write up and thanks again.

Very nice indeed, I too was going to make a grille but I got lazy and bought a chrome one instead.
How did you mount the bottom one?
Did you have any issues with that part?
Oh and do you think it would look dumb if I did just that bit but not the grille?

Bottom grille was actually held in with a couple of black zip ties (needed to be removable to get bumper back off). Still working on a better mounting.
Would look OK with just the lower grille, but I prefer both matching.

very nice.
i mounted the lower grille the same way. if you figure out a betta way let me know. its hard thought cause you are covering the bolts to remove the bumper.
