yup 98-03 S10s were Vortech 2200s.. wich is 2.2. All thats diffrent is the head wich is what makes it a vortech. But for it to work it has to have the 98up trans and computer and everything basicaly that makes it function.

where are you at and how much to you want for the 2000 engine??? I might be able to take it off your hands.

the 00 motor will work, if you want to fuck with all the wiring, and itll be a nightmare. your truck is OBD-I and the motor is OBD-II, fuck that. if you take it down and put your old head on that block, thatll work, assuming your head isnt shot (which is prolly is). good luck.

i did the swap in my s-10, mines a 95 and i put a 98 2.2L. in mine i'm still using my 95 trans, i put a 98+ whole wiring harness in it, and switched to a 98 dash...u cant use none of the 97and below stuff cause 98+ is obd2 and everythings differnt..its a pain to do everything but it can be done, took me a lil less than a week to do everything..
