Shaved doors in VA?

It's my understanding that at least one door has to have a standard handle. They claim that it's so emergency personnel can get to you if needed.

Palmer was the cop in va beach that got me in my lincoln to. he is a johnny by the law cop for sure. i was at legal heght driving and he pulled me over at 11:00 at night going to work sayign that the car was driving rough. asked if it had hydraulics i said yes and 10 minutes later it was on a flat bed. 300 bucks later and having to take the hydraulics off and him inspect the car personally i got my tags and regestration back. just a warning if you are in the navy and go down general booth he will get you and he is an emotionless relentless prick!!!

Shaved door handles will pass in VA now. The law was changed in August. As long as you have a way of getting into the truck from the outside. Airbags will also pass if the truck sits at legal height.....if you got dros you're still fucked.

i think every state should be like kentucky no inspection

I went on the Virginia State Safety Inspection site, and this is what I got:

it doesnt matter wether you get a sticker or not someone will pass your truck. here is the problem virginia is a common wealth state. wich means no matter where your truck is registered their laws apply as soon as you come into their state. also as i was told by officer palmer and every other va beach and state trooper that pulled me over is that any adjustable suspension is illegal as per the virginia state police. airbags and hydraulics mo matter if the vehicle has shocks or not. you can try and fight it in court with the va state inspection laws but it wont matter, virginia beach is a tourist area and they will say they vehicle is unsafe and you will pay the fine and have to put your suspension back to stock in 30 days or they "can" come and take your car to an impund lot and then auction it off. not trying to scare you at all it is total bull shit but it is what happened to me on numerous occasions in the last 5 years i just moved out of there and a friend of mine that lives there just got nailed for airbags and his truck was impounded. as far as what you wrote about the shaved door handles they will get you for them and they will say that you have to have a manual way to get into the door from the outside weven though the inspection criteria does not say so and dont think you will get away with a glass saver kit that uses a pull string either you will still get ticketed every time they stop you. good luck man the best advice i can give youis get the hell out of that shit hole.

I've been pulled over in my truck for having altered suspension, shaved door handes, and diagonal(sp) frenched Licens plate. I asked the officer to read me the rule book before he signed me the ticket. All that he stated to me is no altered suspension shall pass regular inspection along with shaved door handels and frenched licens plate. I then asked what the rule book stated that be done. He only told me that I must be able to access the inside from the outside (WITHOUT) a keyless entre (such as a remote) I hoped out of my ranger (sucide doors) and his eye lit up then I shut the door and popped my secret button under the bed and pop goes the door. So no ticket for that. Then I showed him my customized sticker (all the rednecks around here get them because that have lift kits) and I told him the same thing. Didnt give me a ticket. He then said why can I not have a frenched licens plate like I had, "The Licens plate numbers must be visable from road view" so I asked no quistions got in my vehicle and asked the guy "officer can you tell me my licens plate number" he recited it just as it was standing there looking into my eyes. So I became smart with him. "If you can clearly remember what my plate say's then you can clearly read it from you vehicle." so he got pissed and gave me a warning and I drove off....
