im also curious about the headache question. im thinking about finding a xmember in a salveage yard somewhere and cutting it (and not disabling the truck) and then spend a few hours and putting it in rather than Z the truck.

overall whats easiest and yeilds the best result? and dont hate cause im lazy.

Here is a link on what a crossmember chop and bags with strong arms will get you.. Doing the crossmeber is easier per say than zing the frame...

look at the 86 chevy project on my website.
we Zd the frame 3 inches and cut 1&1/2" off the bottom of the frame under the cab. the frame is still like 5 or 6 inches tall, and when plated inside its plenty strong.

I also offer a trans crossmember for trucks with the inside of the frame plated. looks like the one on the frame in the pics.

I have more pics of this truck Z process and frame cutting process (about 100 pics)
they may get picked up for a mag article. if they dont ill put them on my site as a tech article.

with this done you can lay body with no body drop and have a stronger frame than stock.
