whats up fella's, buddy of mine is needin some help trackin one down for his 2000 Dakota. He's got the 4.7L in it now but wants the full R/T setup but hasnt had any luck finding one with all components (computer an all that junk)

anychance someone here can help em track one down?

it might not handle like an r/t unless he gets the front suspension parts. From what i hear they use a few dodge viper parts under the frontend in the r/t for handling

Well he's just wanting the motor an shit, he's been talking bout doing some shockwaves front an rear but working everything else to handle a built 5.9L only prob is he cant find a decent motor

yeah thats cool, i always wanted an r/t...there is a guy up the road from me with a single cab manual r/t that he doesnt even drive. it's red with flames coming off the front and smooth as shit. It jus sits outside in the weather and his mom said he won't sell it. I would trade him the noma in a heartbeat. Oh an here is where i heard about the viper parts, found it to be pretty interesting...

"Whether it's the sound, the crisp handling, the look, or the Viper parts in the front end, the Dakota R/T offers the most emotionally satisfying, fun-to-drive sport truck for the money, especially when someone else is buying gas. If the new Ram is the Mayor of Truckville, this is the Chief of Police."

i dont know much about the engine but i found a car and driver (ish) site that said that the 5.7 sucked and you could easily build up the 4.7 to be way better, they said all they could produce was a small chirp out of the tires, and it was in no way as smooth as the 4.7, if i find the site ill post it. I think the hosepower diffence is like 235 to 250, so for gas mileage, i think it would be a waste to swap to bigger engine.

the 5.9 out of the fullsize is the same dealio , grab one of those and get some new motor mounts and then get a mopar performance PCM because they work nicely with the 5.9. You are going to have to do some serious work beefing up this motor to make it high hp ready, just remember they like to ping alot, they have shitty intake plenum gaskets that blow out all the time so check those, they have issues with the IAT, EGR, plug wires and TPS.

I dont think you know what motors your talking about. The 5.9, 5.2, 3.9 are all based on the same block, the 4.7 is completely differen, and the 5.7 is the new hemi.

And there are no Viper parts in an R/T. the only suspension diff. is 2" lower coils in the fron and 2 or 3" lower springs in rear. 2nd and 3rd gen dakotas only share the lug pattern w/ the viper but not the offset. The last year they made the R/T Chrysler did beef up the tranny more than the 5.9 ram trannys were
