Thats why i cut the lip around handle out and do flush plate of same thickness leave bout same thickness of metal gap around edge of filler for weld to fill tack till solid grind smooth then sandblast or wire wheel it to be sure all the gas residue is gone then skim with mar glass knock it down smooth then skim with 2 part glaze finish out then put couple coats of epoxy primer on let it dry sand with 180 then put 2 coats of urethane 2k primer on let dry block out with 320 wet then 600 wet and its ready to paint and never show a shadow
