besides running a weber carb. What are some aftermarket possiblilites such as a holley and if a holley will work would adapter plates be needed and if so which holeey carb? thi swould be going on a mazda b2200.

i know a holley 5200 works on a mitsu with a weber adapter plate, they come on 77-79 pintos

The 5200 is a dfev series carb and that I think only works on the older pre 84 mazda's preety sure they used them on pinto's and mustangs. The 86 and up is a dgv I think will it still work?

No, that isn't correct. A Holley 5200 DOES work on any B2000/B2200. However, they do not bolt on. You will either need to machine an adapter plate or use a Weber plate. The manifold cannot be machined to bolt the carb on, the stud location conflicts with a void in the casting. Keep in mind, a linkage will have to be fabricated as well.

you are both right. The dfev is a mirror image of the dgev. Exactly the same, just everything on the other side from where it was.

So you can bolt the carb up to a standard weber adapter, but the linkage is on the wrong (maybe wrong is the wrong word, opposite) side. You'll need to make an adapter for the linkage.

Yes the 5200 is a dfev copy, Ford just made their own carbs for Ford production vehicles. Rochester made a GM carb that is also exactly the same. Easier to take webers design than to make their own I guess. This was around the time when Ford put a price on human life and kept selling flawed pintos, so I'm not really surprised.

Whats the best car to get the 5200 off of? I want the electric choke like my truck already has. and where can you get the weber adapter plate?

you can also buy a brand new holley 5200 for a 77 pinto from advance auto parts for 144. plus the adapter plate, which is on ebay for 32, and you have the same basic thing as a weber for about 175 as opposed to 400 for the real thing... I dont this to my mitsu and it works great.. will tkae some pics soon...

how about throw the carb and the intake in the trash and go efi!

who wants all the headache with wiring up that EFI???
dssur   +1y
Ive seen stereos that have more wiring than a Megasquirt EFI. Most EFI wires go to generic places too, like 8 for the injectors, 3 for the TPS, two for the coolant and air sensors. Then you give it power and ground and a good ignition, and a tach pulse from the coil, an O2 input, and vrooom vrooom.
You are right blitch, it can be a little intimidating at first, but I can hit one button on my laptop and tune the system while I'm out cruising around. I had a Weber on my last truck and I was always fiddling with it.

If you found a 323/626 (over the head type) intake, a B2600i in tank pump, high pressure lines, and bought the MS built (you can find ready built ones on ebay) I dare say it would cost the same or even slightly less than a real Weber.

That 5200 is the low cost leader though lol. 144 bucks is a steal for better mileage and increased performance.
