id just encourage them to try it, why not...its the only way to learn,
because its like...they do it, they fuck up, they learn from thier mistakes. I would think also if they keep trying they are only going to get better at it or u would hope anyway.

i do kinda see his point. if you dont even know how to weld or have even tried to weld and you start asking questions like (i have never done any fab work but i want to body drop and chop the top and channel my new beater am i going to need a welder and where do i buy metal, i mean if you dont know how to wipe your ass by your self much less the basics of welding and how something works then why be stupid and try to jump in the deep end when you cant even swim. i get this shit all the time from people wanting to know how to install there stereo there self and start pulling shit apart and then want to ask me "whats this blue wire for behind my dash? gets old after awile. i know its how you learn but damn like i said start off small.

damn thats the only way i got into minitruckin...i got hit in my quarter panel and decided to fix it my self.. and i had never welded before so it was pretty much a fly by the seat of my pant. But i asked a couple of bodyshop on how to do it and did it myself. It turned out great and i made $1000 from insurance money since i did it myself and then i soon got a bag kit with that money and the rest is history. But damn questions are the way you learn.

i agree that jumping in with out any knowledge is an easy way to total your vehicle, most of us have seen the hacked rides thread and there are plenty of people in there that have no idea what there doing. If you cant do it yourself you should either find someone who knows what there doing to help, pay a shop, or just wait until you know whats up. The information is out there you just need to seek it out first and REALLY plan your projects.

i know i'm probably gonna catch alot of crap for this, but i agree with his point. he may have worded it wrong, but i do see what he's trying to say. i see sooo much stuff on the road that should not be there. i get alot of trucks in the shop that have broken due to poor planning, poor welding, and overall lack of experience. in fact, some have, or could have caused an accident.
i don't agree with the title of the post, but the rest i agree with. ask questions. work with someone who has experience. practice on on something that isn't gonna have the potential to kill someone. then practice some more before you start cutting and welding your truck.

Ok, HOW THE FUCK DO YOU LEARN ABOUT SOMETHING WITHOUT ASKING QUESTIONS?? People aren't asking how to fix something that they already fucked up, so why bash them before they ever do anything wrong? Some people need to get their head out of their own ass and give some common courtesy to their fellow minitruckers.

I think there are tooooo many people that try shit without knowing/asking than there are those who ask. when ever i has a question about something i come to ssm most of the time. i have learned so much from this site and fellow mini truckers.

wanna talk about newbies, go on myspace in their groups... and you get people like you that just hate hate hate. teach them, show them, and they will dragg all over you. isnt that what its all about.

There are so many people guys and gurls that love custom rides, but they really dont know what all goes into it. they picked up on it and love this sport.

perhaps the post wasn't worded correctly, but the i think many are missing the point. most of these dangerous rides that are likely to be more of a hazard are built by people that specifically don't ask questions and think they know it all allready. then they build a rolling dumpster, that either falls apart or is sold to some poor sap like me who has to take the demenial task on of removing 568 zip ties and drug through spring perches. nevertheless someone always thinks two bungee straps are sufficent for a 10 gallon full gas tank that may turn into one huge moltov cocktail when an accident occurs. these examples are commonly done by people who may not have asked enough questions, and sometimes learn by disaster, which is unfortunate. but when someone who has never welded wants to perform a bodydrop, they should be encouraged to ask questions, so they understand all that is involved. and being a minitrucker you should want to lend a hand or suggestion, such as they should enlist a couple experienced friends or clubmembers to be sure everything gets done correctly and in a safe manner. don't bash people but give them a chance to learn.
