to clear the air, rangers have the big engine xmember. to lay frame you have to z it. to keep a stock hood you have to lwoer it.lowerd motor+zd frame = oil pan clearance issues.thats y a mII or yota clip is good becuz you wont have to z it,you can build a smaller engine x member, and have better suspension geomotry then ford ever thought of having on a ranger. also cris, you say only the body will be moving down yes, but it will need that much more travel to clear the wheels to turn. trust me, starting from scratch w/ a new clip and new frame will be a TON easier then tryin to mod what you have now. ive ben there.every one has posted good info, but if you going to stock floor it, just build a new frame. and logic says, if ur gona build a new frame, y not build a trick front suspension?

butter, after readin your thread on rps(yea i still lurk on there from time to time ;) ) i understand were your going with this. the point im trying to get across is oil pan to engine crossmember clearance after you z the frame and lower the motor. thats y im saying use a yota or mII clip.its your truck you can do it how you want it. o and msturg, it has stock rails right now, its gettin 2x3 front half w/ handbuilt arms and yota spindles and aerostar rack n pinion:) butter, lemme know if you need any pics of the rails under the cab.
