VIAIR Pumps are oilless units... About the only thing that would be affected would be the unit's ability to cool since the head/heat sink assembly isn't in a position to benefit from an upright installation.

i have my 380c mounted upside down and have not had a problem

heat rises. heatsinks are placed on top or the side for a reason

ive had my 450 mounted upside down under my bed on my truck for 2 years or so, not one problem except for a broken leader hose from kickin up reflectors!!

most of the post are bullcrap.I was installing viar when people thought thomas was the shiznit..the truth is the piston will wear oblong if you mount it sideway's but up or down is the same thing and will not hurt anything at all.as for the oil running out there is no oil.
