Removing the cat will not give you any noticeable gains. I would suggest you do headers and MSD ignition first and tune that carb. Z24 has some kick.... I miss mine... but only when it was reliable, I was plaggued with carb issues the past year and other stuff started to go, so I ditched the old Z24 for a KA.

I have a vid of my 720 hauling a bike in my profile..... doing 85+ with the bike on top.

Also one more thing.... if you free up your exhaust (like 2.5" tubing and free flowing muffler, headers and high flow cat or no cat) you will only loose bottom end.... like your take off but you will be able to rev the engine higher and get that extra HP (with out the engine sounding like it's going to fall apart with all the stock exhaust).

Since you're replacing the pipes... I would suggest you go with 2.25" pipe..... I ran 2.5" and lost some bottom end (but the engine sounded healthier) and when I switched to 2.25" i felt some bottom end come back and the top end was pretty much the same.

What headers did you get?

Alright ill prolly do that then with the 2.25" um the headers i got are pacesetter headers

when i replaced my exhaust i got a header and straight 2 1/4"pipe into a flowmaster..ran a whole lot better than stock drug flat exhaust

2.25" is a pretty good size for minis. Optimum for performance. Anything bigger you will start loosing power. I have a Doug Thorley header, a high flow cat, and a Magnaflow. It sounds a hell of a lot better than stock.
