Ight fine you WIN.. jezzz i cant even get on here an give some help to someone with a legit question these days without gettin slamed.

So basicaly joe (pimpalincoln) try to find a glass guy that will at least make you a windsheild if he can do that then he can deff make you some flat glass side windows and will know that your using them in a car so they will be safe, and can probably make you lexan ones if you want. And if hes chopin windows he should beable to list out all your options.

I have even heard but is still unconfirmed that these new cars with side curtain airbags are using laminate glass in the side windows because the bags were blowin out the tempered ones and that was causeing problems with the side curtain air bags. If thats true you will beable to take one of those windows that a close shape to yours and have it cut down just like a windsheild.

i was looking into the same stuff awhile back. never got anywhere. i was reading around the net and found u can sand blast the excess off, but u may go through a couple windshields etc. but i grab a junker glass out of a mazda, and was thinking, with all the tools they have out now somethings gotta work. took a while but i found out that a die grinder works great. people are gonna say no no no, but yeah it worked, u gotta be slow very slow, but not as slow as it may seem, and its smooth cut

So you just used a die grinder and cut the top off the windshield huh how long it take you to chop the window down?

I watched the dude cut down my windsheild. Since we took 7" off the top of it, he used a glass cutter and scored both sides of the windshield then snapped the top off. Then he took a grinder to the top to take the sharp edges off it and make it smooth. He said that grinding the top smooth is when the window usualy breaks cuz if you go to fast the heat will build up in the glass funny and make it crack.

ive heard of ppl making a template of your new window opening (with the curve) and going to a junk yard and putting it on windshields until you find one that has the correct curve in it. you can then get 2 new windshields and have your side glass cut out of that.

now thats not too bad of an idea. I'll do it when i get around to it, right now it can stay with a small cap, not like its winter or like i'll be driving it in the rain

I don't think Mike is the Co-Owner. He's worked there for a long time. He lives around the corner for me. I got my glass through him, the one piece side glass that no one can seem to find. And he'll be cutting my glass for my Ford when I get around to it. But I've known that guy since I was a little kid. He always tells me he remembers when I was about as tall as his knee, and now look what I'm doing. Lol. I just remember Tom saying you went to Reliable.

FYI: My company makes aftermarket tempered glass for most all makes and models of vehicles.  We have also made hundreds of custom windows over the past 18 years for chop-tops, limousines, hursts, hot rods, prototypes, etc... Please contact me at rspratt@autotempinc.com or (513) 403-5193 if you need a custom project quoted. (I am currently working on a website and it will hopefully be up within the next month or so...) Thank you,  -Robert Spratt
