ok after 115 dollars, and 2 stops to recharge the battery with another car, i got it home, charged the battery, and replaced the terminals with new ones. i put a voltmeter on the terminals, and turned the truck on, and headlights, and i can watch the battery dying on the voltmeter. what connections are you speaking of? i dont see any corrosion on the little plug that was on the side of the + terminal that has alot of wires hooked to it. i think it its the alternator.

Good Luck.

I have had this same problem with my hardbody for the past 6 months. 5 batteries, 3 alternators and a "new" harness, under the hood, later I still have no idea what the problem is.

My final solution was to swap in a GM one-wire alternator. I haven't had a chance to check to see if it is charging yet but it should be OK.

If you find out the problem let me know, this is really confuseing.

My old man had similar problems with his '95 over the weekend...had to jump-start it yesterday...noticed the negative side cable clamp was cracked(2nd time for that)and went to Advance to get a new one, had to modify it a lil' bit, but got it on and let the truck sit overnight...got it to start this morning, but it was VERY sluggish on 3 attempts at different times...also noticed that the windshield wipers didn't have much juice even with the truck running...figuring it's the alternator, and having it replaced/rebuilt...I'll post the outcome..........

lol batman needs to put on some weight. fat man. lol.

Dougs was a little connection on the back of the alt if I remember. My three were all that stupid fusible link quick disconnect at the battery, I just yanked that shit off and put a ring terminal on each wire.

But take your VOM and put the neg on the neg batt post, then take the pos lead and stick it through the wire that comes from the alt. If you have higher voltage at the alt wire than you do at the battery then thats your problem, connection at the batt. If you have the same voltage it is either your VR in the alt or that connection at the back that gave doug such fits. Putting a new alt on does not fix the connection, as he found out numerous times.
