Titanium will definatly give you the brightest spark and if you are doing it for show, then that's the way to go. I am going to get some from silverstar customs for a show that's coming up. I can drag my cross member and the back half of my frame but the sparks are just sooo damn bright with blocks. I like em'. And plus it freaks people out more with blocks when they are behind you when you drag.

I'm gonna eventually use hitch balls. I drag way too often for kicks to drop the coin on actual blocks. And since my frame doesn't hit the pavement I currently only get sparks from the pinch weld on the cab so the hitch balls will make a lot more than that.

I'm also curious about anybody having problems w/ the blocks breaking off and fukin up your roll pan or anything.

it's funny you mention that... why don't you ask my boy shaggy about people and wrongly mounted drag blocks. Last year at STC we were out having the Domination drag session when this stupid blazer had titanium blocks which broke clean off, bounced off his hood, and shattered his windshield. Now if he had been just a few feet slower, the block would have missed the tip of his hood and had a direct shot at his windshield, directly in front of him. With the block bouncing from his hood, it actually made a hole in his windshield, so if he had been a lil slower that block would have had full force onto the glass and made it all the way though, causeing some real damage not only to the truck, but to Shag's too... If you dont' believe me, go watch the Domination "Here Comes Trouble" video and watch the STC drag, there is a part where the camera pans from the blazer and onto the sparks, put it in slow-mo, you can actually seet he fire hot block bounce off the ground and head towards his truck...So blocks suck, mount them the right way or don't go dragging. Get 2 Good grade 8 bolts on each or weld the shit out of a chunk of metal under there, you don't want us to come hunt you down too, cause that wasn't a fun night.

The Blazer....

Shag's during the session, after the block... Yes, the famous drag photo.....

Take a few leaf springs that you probobly removed from your truck when you bagged it, grab a plasma cutter, cut a few 5" strips and weld them(weld them good) to the bottom of the frame.

The "blocks" don't need to be 10" tall! Plus with the leaf springs it's a part of the truck so at least you have that.

i welded a block of 7/8" metal to my front xmember, it is 12" wide and 4" deep and its now down to about 3/8" thick so it lasts a long ass time.

hell any thing steel will work, two years ago me and my buddy with an '87 were at showfest and had managed to drag through the small blocks we put on before we came, so we went to lowes and bought 1" thick grade 8 bolts and pluged my little hobart welder in at the alamat inn and welded them to the bottom of the frames. That was some funny stuff, had a big crowd of spectators watching our dumb asses out there welding on "blocks" in the parking lot.

I think I will probably go this route. It looks like the best option.
