Here's our '50 Buick at the Good Guys show this summer. We prefer the term traditional instead of rat rod. Not to rip off anyone, but a guy on the HAMB message board is quoted as saying... "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap!" I would have to agree...

The term "Rat Rod" is usually thrown around in a negative way. Its like calling a truck "hacked" in a way. The rusted up old 30s cars that people consider rat rods, are considered "traditional rods" even though they are not exactly era correct. They're basically a hot rod just taken in a different direction. The guys that build those are generally offended by the term "rat rod". Its like being called a lowrider. Many minitruckers consider that offensive. I'd love to build a 30s car, chopped and channeled with steel wheels and old school Firestone tires and suicide front suspension. Some people would call it a rat rod. I would just call it my take on what the car should look like. Its the same thing as minitruck versus lowrider. Thats why I say the term "Rat Rod" is gay. The term needs to go away. And yes, there are some cars out there that have no floor boards, and the fab is pretty shoddy or they have no front brakes. They're still not rat rods, just a poor attempt at building a traditional styled rod. There I'm done.

And Kris, good to see the truck together. Now bag the C10.

^seth hit the nail on the head, good luck goin to billetproof or any other traditional rod show, and calling one of thier rides a "rat rod" your likely to get into a fight.

Everything on this website is a hot rod of some sort because hot rodding is the grandfather of ALL custom auto work that dates back to the 20s. True organized custom auto events began with the SoCal Timing Assoc. in the 30s. Rat rod, street rod, resto rod, retro rod, it's all custom.
