It could be inside the distributor I've had problems with them before check and see if your getting spark from the coil but not the distributor it's probaly in the distributor.

ihad basically the same problem with mine it turned out to be te ignitor in the distributor it is a serviceable part i think it was like 20 or 30 dollars

did you say you welded on the floor without disconecting it?a mig puts a electromagnetic field around the whip.if the com was in that field it could have fried it.in the body shop we have had cases like that happen. do you havbe a friend or anyone you know that has one to swap out? that would be the easiest way to tell.
