I would get something with a 1.3 tip tho. I got a sata 90 that i found layin around at my old mans shop with a 1.4 that sprays like a hose. I perfer a 1.3 tip if you get a gun.
yeah the sata klc is a really good gun..u can ebay one for about 175 or less...and about the tip size..just because u got a big tip and it moves alotta material dont mean that its better...high solids material..ESPECIALLY primer..needs to be broken up and atomized or you will get poor rusults down the road..with primer if its not atomized right the droplets come out too big and they lay over your sand scratches and eventually soak in making your paintjob look like poo....go with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip...with VOC laws gettin worse the solids content will keep going up and your gonna see the need for smaller tips yet...
I have been using a 1.3 or a 1.4 for over a year and i have had no problems. I like the 1.4 better if im priming or sealing in a prep station or booth. But if i need to keep the air pressure down then the 1.3 is a lot better. I couldnt imagine using anything bigger then a 1.4 to prime a small spot or if its half a door.
Thank you everyone for your input. I will be spraying at my dad's garage. I am beginning the filler work on the truck, and I figured it was about time to buy some high build primer and a spray gun. I just plan on spraying the primer. I will take the truck to a shop for the top coat and clear coat. While we are on the subject, What would be a good dtm high build primer? I would also like to keep the cost of the gun as close to $100 as possible.
