You can get any color primer you want. Get p30 shwerin williams. I use it everyday and i have it on my truck and my friends van. Its a glossyer primer but it fills good and blocks easy. Dont really need a guide coat for it. It pretty much shows you the high and lows when blocked.

yeah the sata klc is a really good gun..u can ebay one for about 175 or less...and about the tip size..just because u got a big tip and it moves alotta material dont mean that its better...high solids material..ESPECIALLY primer..needs to be broken up and atomized or you will get poor rusults down the road..with primer if its not atomized right the droplets come out too big and they lay over your sand scratches and eventually soak in making your paintjob look like poo....go with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip...with VOC laws gettin worse the solids content will keep going up and your gonna see the need for smaller tips yet...

exactly...the klc would be better for spraying epoxy primer or sealer something along the lines of liquid bondo!

If you have the cash SATA KLC is the way to go. Check out Sears, they carry devilbiss siphon guns in the price range your looking at.

sikkens color build is nice...spies hecker makes a primer or spectro surfacer that you can make any color with too! i think it has a much better build than sikkens and easier to work with.

i use a sharp cobalt primer gun with a 1.8 tip, i also have a 1.5 for it that i use on thinner product. It lays the primer down nice and smooth.

if you want cheep, then just get a no name gun like a Star, or something.....guys that have worked in the trade for over a decade still use $50 spray guns, because its for primer.

I forked out the $400 cdn for the HVLP KLC, because this is my trade, and I feel that if you want good quality you gotta have good tools.

I've had good holdout on all my jobs, and never had sinkage if they are properly feathered, and prepped.

I just finished buying myself a new NR3000 for base, and I cant wait to use it at work.

I've tried a wide variety of spray guns. I like Anest Iwata's the most though. The Binks M1G is what I currently use for primer. Both are kind of pricey though.

how would a 1.3 be better than a 1.4 when you need to keep the air pressure down? makes no sense. you would need to use more pressure w/ the 1.3 to get the same amount of material onto the panel.

the devilbiss finishline 2 works well for primer, however i haven't been able to find any rebuild kits for it. spraygundepot.com has the startingline kit (finishline 2 guns, but w/ plastic cups) for 100 bucks. 1 fullsize gun, comes w/ a 1.3 and a 1.8 setup and a touch up gun w/ a 1.0 tip. the small one works well for spraying blending solvent for burning in your clears on blends, etc.

anything at wal-mart or menards will work fine, i would get a large tip though, 1.7-2.0 if you will be spraying a high solids primer. a 1.5 will work well for sealer.
