Just check on the back side of the fenders or anywhere else you can see the back of and check to see if the metal has discolored from getting welded on. You should be able to see if the panel was welded onDo that first. If you are serious about having it soda/ sand blasted I would get some 40-60 grit and sand every 6 inches to make sure the previous owner did not start it then decide to half ass it. It would suck to get your truck back with alot of nasty fillers tacked in place without any filler in the body lines on half of it.I took my current and last rides to metal to make sure I know what is there. On both of them I found alot of surprises.

Magnet would work well to see if it is solid filler...

When you sand out a test spot to see if its filler or not, dont do it on the middle of a panel, thats how you warp your shit. sand it somewhere theres a good curve or closer to the edge of the panel. best bet is on the cab not the fenders or doors.

SWEET! lol, just found out the body lines were shaved with filler. i'm think i'm gonna start with james's tip of kicking the guy in the head for shaving entire lines with bondo, then get a hold of a blaster and blast the hell out of it. question is, anything special i should know before i start this?

^ you mean your going to call a sand blasting company and drop off the panels.right. if you go at it with some hack ass household sand blaster with coarse sand its just gonna pit the metal and make a big mess.

well, i'm trying to do it myself. AFTER I learn some about it. i know better than just hack at it with a sand blaster. if after i learn, i still don't th ink i can accomplish it, then yes, i'll take it somewhere

you could sand down what you can with a palm sander and then take a die grinder with a wire wheel brush in it and take out the filler with that. being careful with both not to stay in one area long

this is another option, but messy. you can use aircraft stripper. that stuff takes off everything to bare metal. including filler. it may take a few applications but save you from pitting or warping your metal, since you want to do it your self. also after with a brass wire wheel you can get in go areas that the stripper didnt get and will be less likely to warp the metal since brass is softer than steel but harder than filler. good luck!
