Looks like I have to step in... AGAIN.
This is the... I don't know... maybe 3rd topic about RE audio that James has started in the past week. I'd say the KID is a glutton for punishment.
Ok. First off. RE Audio is not a bad company. They had a hell of a product. I used the first Gen XXX12 for a solid year, no problems. I think I ended up trading it out for a more SQ based subwoofer. No one has said anything different. Except of course, the kid that claims a 155db with one JL13.5W7 (Complete and total bullshit unless he metered with a audiocontrol mic IN THE PORT).
Second. The 'SPIDER WIRE' is the tinsel lead. That's what it's called. If you're going to act like you have a clue about what's going on, then dammit. DO SOME RESEARCH!
Third. I have my doubts that a WOOFER, in itself, can catch a car/truck on fire. Infact, I would say you had a direct short. Please elaborate on the amplifier you were running, the voice coil configuration of the woofer, and the final ohm load on the amplifier. A woofer, in itself, cannot spontaneously combust. These is no innate voltage to start a fire.
*EDIT* I read the explanation of what happened, and it could be a number of other things. However, it was NOT the woofer at fault.
Yes. If you're a fan of RE, or have been in the past. Feel FREE to check out FI Audio. Good stuff. VERY good stuff.
Whoever said something about the XXX being the top of the line for RE obviously has never laid eyes on the BEAST that is an MT.
Seriously.
James.
Shut.
Up.
You've proven that you're an insanely skilled installer, and you know your shit (yeaaaaaah! riiiiiight.)
Get off the internet, and build something people will respect.
Have a nice day.
