what you gonna do about the oil filter? a 302 takes a pretty big filter if you ran a fram it would be a ph8 which is a good size filter! looks good so far...

you're right. ill have to run a remote oil filter, just a braided steal line, over to my desired location

anyone else got any pictures of a 302ci swap motor? am I the "1st" one doing a project thread about it? Maybe the 1st one body dropped? Just wondering, see what kind of publicity it would get.

i duno im putting a 327 in my jeep(s10 frame) and its that tight of a fit.

instead of the "ill have to run a remote oil filter, just a braided steal line, over to my desired location.." just use a 90degree adapter and mount the filter towards the front of the block. personally i hope your goin to paint the motor different than the silver you have it now. also youll need to cut out the center of the frame, and cut out the inside of the frame rails and drop that motor about 8 inches from where you have it now. that way your stock hood will work. and by the looks of the room you have, you wont even need to modify your pan. if you ditch the factory motor mounts your using to mock up your drivetrain, and make some that are much smaller, you can also move the motor down quite abit. if i was doin this swap, which it is a very easy swap, put the cab onto the frame and then put the motor in and then make your mounts. because right now you have no idea where the motor will be sitting in the engine bay.

I do this idea ^ with putting the cab on the frame, but my problem is that I'm doing a stock floor frame, and the front of the truck is body dropped, and the rear frame isnt, I couldn't get anything to line up. In a few weeks, once I've got my frame built, I can continue the mock up. The motor sits fairly low as it is, I honestly might be able to keep the stock hood, or maybe just a 2" cowl. remember 302s have alot widers V pattern than a 350

But I am taking what you said into consideration. And was accualy thinking about building my own mounts just to ensure my safety, when I rebuild the motor to 600+ (on spray). I will look into the 90degree oil filter like you said, any idea where I can find/price these?

"remember 302s have alot widers V pattern than a 350.." nope. they both are 90 degree motors. and 600+ and spray, your motor wont fit under the hood. if you want to make power, go get a mustang magazine and start reading. all of your questions/answers are there. the adapter is like 40 bucks. summit.com jegs.com and you can look.
i have built many small block fords. 600 hp, sh*t anything over 400 hp is goin to cost you. first step is take your heads off your motor and throw them away, youll be buying after market heads if you want to make big hp.

ahaha. They are 1.77 ported and polished [edit: came off the SHO mustangs I believe, then got ported and poilished.].512 solid cam.new rocker armshardened pushrodsshorty headersair gap intakeblueprinted and balanced blockcrank turned and polished

probably mid low 350hp now. just guessing.

thats just as it sits. with the rebuild it will get all new lower end. all forged. new crank aswell. then a shit ton of spray and 2.02 heads.

Don't take me for a fool but your advice is taken seriously, none the less. Ill look through my mags for the adapter.

Are you sure the 302 doesnt sit overall lower than a 350?
BK2LIFE   +1y
yes the 302 physically is shorter than a 302. the 302 has a lower deck hieght. never said you were a "fool", id never say that to anyone. ive got a 351w that has alot of money into it and im hoping for a 500hp pull on the dyno.
what about emissions? do you have to take your truck through emissions? here in az it sucks we cant just put motors in things, we have to make sure it passes smog testing.. really sucks..
