Ok, so, basically, i lost the dash somehow with my trucks vintag on it, so swapped dashes with a junkyard truck, and the vin of course is diffrent on my "new" dash, origionally i planned to swap em over, however i procrastinated and lost the origional dash, think someone tossed it thinkin it was trash, it was pretty grizly. so is there a way, maby i can take my title to mazda and they can order a new one? or heck install a new one? of course i have the firewall one and all that junk, but i drive in and out of military bases, and i always have to sit for 15-20 minutes explaining to them that its a diffrent dash, finally i convince them to look at the firewall and they say "oh ge, wellllll.... oooookay." its just the hassle and all, i meen, i imagine that somehow they can make you a new one if you have the title, or even install it for you (would be nice to not have it look like i did it myself) anyone know? please?

if your in texas you need to go have the truck inspected by dps they will then re vin the truck and put a new one in the door jam....DO NOT SWAP THE VINS!! My truck got impounded for that do it the legal way and talk to the dps and let them know what you did and why...it'll save you time and effort later

we dont have any inspections or nothing, im in huntsville alabama, where well, your car can blow flames and smoke out the back and cops will just tip their hats as you drive by, but still, the problem is, i dont have the origional vin tag that goes on the dash, everything else is fine... my origional dash got tossed in the trashcan i think. =(

almost forgot, door jamb has a vin, like i said, cops right away are like oh ok, truck has over 340,000 miles so theres no way the dash i have is origional, its just the military bases, if one of em dont match up its hell to pay.

just shave it then they have to look on the door or under the hood.

kansas is pretty strict about vin laws and you just have to have two of three, dash jamb and firewall. If you have two there is no problem.

If you only have one, you have to do what still2low says and take it to the tag office and file for a new VIN. You will get a new plate in your door jamb with a compeletly new number. Alabama or not, you HAVE to do this, because if the truck ever gets impounded or sold out of state (like to kansas) without VIN's in two places it will be confiscated and crushed.

Dealing with the DMV is a real pain in the ass.In some states it would be easier to buy a new truck. If you have the right paperwork you can however buy the stamps and special rivet gun to change vin's.Im not telling you to buy the stuff but simply that people in dealerships or restoration places might have what you need.Just make sure it has the right rivets.

I would take a small piece of metal cut to size, take it get it engraved with your vin number and either rivit it or glue it back.

dont do that unless you like jail lol

You must be talking about Redstone Arsenal LOL. Was stationed there. I had a problem with my vin on my truck. I painted the dash, and put the vin back on. It just had to be inspected by the CHP in California. My truck was painted there in Alabama.
