why doesnt size matter? So basically all i need to do is get a fuel cell, mount the stock pump to it, then extend wires, and hoses, and that's it? Or do i need to worry about anything else? What about the sending unit?

the depth of the fuel cell is the critical dimension, 12" or so deep is what your shooting for. i think you can modify the stock pump to work on a shorter tank but the easiest way to experiement is to get one off of ebay thats shot or go to a junk yard and get one for like $40 -$50 and use it for mockup it will save you an assload of time.

Like Joe said depth is what matters if you want the factory fuel gauge to work. Mine is mounted in the back of my bed. You can kind of see my cell in one pic on my profile.

OK i got a couple of more questions.....what about the sending unit? Should I just get a cell with out one, and try to mount my stock one in? Also should I get a cell with a sump in it, or not? And fatheadjames, what gauge are you using, is it stock, or something custom?

I have a question, i just have my stock tank in right now, where do you guys run your vent hose on your stock tanks. Not going to run it forever but i cant afford to put a fuel cell in right now, thanks.

if you have a vented gas cap i would pull the hose and cap that barbed fitting.

Here, This is what you need.

Get that and then cut a hole for your fuel pump.Pull some of the foam out, and get some 1/4" aluminum and sandwhich your pump onto the fuel cell like Joe did. After that you'll need to extend your wires and fuel line. You'll be able to retain your factory gas gauge and everything!

i didnt use any foam, the factory tank had no foam or baffles and it was fine, i also have had no issues without it.

btw that link is for the summit racing hat lol.

aliuminium oxidizes and will tarnish your injectors. If you look back no car ever came with aliuminium tanks. On a fuel injected car the fuel circulates so fast if you don't have tank baffles when you turn your truck will stuter. If you use the foam your fuel system will be fucked in less then six months also they make fuel cell senders for everything anysize you need.I would also like to add all factory fuel injected tanks are baffled one way or another.

Sweet so that's all I need then? Do I also need to make a hole and mount the stock sender. And that link is for a 10" deep tank. Is that enough, or is it cause of the 2" sump? Do i need to mount the pump over the lowest point of the sump?
