Ok so heres the deal.I had the truck jacked up for about a week and the front wheels off. During that week we actually got a few inches of "slush". I noticed a lil bit of surface rust forming on the rotor but didn't think anything about it. I figured I'd check the brake pads too while the wheels were off and everything looked good. Well I have been driving the truck now for 2 days and the squealing when I slow down has just gotten louder and louder. Would this be because of the rust?

I also forgot to ask what can I do to fix the problem? That shit is annoying.

it's not a big deal. just go drive your truck. do a couple of hard braking stops. do an abs stop. if that doesn't clean it up, use a rolox wheel on a die grinder and clean up the rotors. you can run it over the surface of the brake pad too. if your rotors not flaking apart. it's not a big deal.

ear plugs although i would just turn up the radio

yeah use a rolox wheel on the rotors if its bad,or braking hard should zip the rust off pretty quick

In response to both of y'all thats what I have been doing but so far its just been getting louder and louder. But I'll keep trying that and if it doesn't get better I'll just take the wheels off and grind it off.

What is this "radio" that you speak of??? I am not sure I know what that is any more.

the dust from the rust can cause a vibration wich turns into squeaks. if you have any brakleen handy try using that. if you do take it apart to clean it up. take a wire brush to your caliper carriers where the pads ride. brake dust builds up there and can cause squeaks.

then my next sugg would be to turn the rotors,or just buy a new pair?
i work at a dealership and almost every car that has been sitting on the lot for a little while gets the rotors turned, wether its for a pulsation or squeaky brakes.alot of guys at work clean rotors with a 36 grit roloc wheel and brake clean too
