What type should I pick up to spray before I start body work? Does shirwin williams carry anything worth using? They are right across the street.

I am not sure what final paint company I will be using, but I do plan on doing all body work over the epoxy, and then spraying again with your normal primer, tinted to the colors I want.

are you down to bare metal? if so then i would use an etching primer.

I've always been told Epoxy primer over bare metal. Thats what I did.

Grant, I used DuPont, and I liked it a lot. Its about $100 to the gallong. Probably cheaper outside of California. PPG makes a really nice epoxy primer as well.

etching primer or primer surfacer is made to be the first thing on bare metal......

most epoxy primers have a etch built into them. If you read the pink sheets on them it will say do not spray over a etch primer. Sherwin williams does carry it. thats what i just sprayed my truck in. The body work lays out nice on it and feathers into it real good too. And you can mix it as a sealer too so u can spray a top coat out everything right before u base it if u want.
