Theres no splices though. I traced the wire all the way from the plug at the blinker to the plug at the colum. Its one piece. Lol. My manual is for 79-83 2wd and 4wd, but I just don't see why a truck wouldnt come with blinkers.

I'll try it this weekend when I get the wiring far enough along to test them.

Sounds like Randall has ya going but a flasher should be mounted in your main wiring block where your wiring harness comes through the firewall under the dash. Do you see a spot in that block that a flasher should be mounted? Man there had to be a flasher mounted in there somewhere. " Heeeeeeere flasher flasher flasher"

No, theres nothing. I pulled a flasher out of an 81 when I was at a junkyard. It was on the passenger side by the wiper control tucked up under the dash. Mine is not there. Like I said, I traced the wires right from the plug at the blinker all the way to the column. There are no breaks. I picked up two flashers today though. I'll wire them up and see if it works. If not, I just won't use my blinkers. Or I'll manually flash them if a cop is around. Lol.

make sure the flasher button is plugged OK. I didnt have my flasher relay plugged in on my toyota and my blinkers acted weird as hell. I dont know if older trucks have the flasher thing, but if they do check that.

Please read the entire posts. There is no flasher in my truck.

Hmm thats odd you dont have one in there....
anyways here is the location of the flasher harness....

Front seating area, passenger side, under dash,
mounted on driver side of glove compartment cavity

I guess if you dont have one you can ether go pick one up at a junkyard, or order it from the "stealer" if they even carry it anymore...

Again, please read all the posts. There is no flasher, and no where to plug them in. There isn't anything wired for them.

I found a diagram in the Mitchell book at school, showing that the flasher came in a few plcaes in 1980. One, one the passenger side by the glovebox fo the standard models, the other, hard wired into the column on some SR5 models. I believe this is what mine is. So what I am informed is that the entire column needs to be replaced for this too be fixed. Wiring in flashers will not work. So I'm going to try to find an SR5 tilt column..
