And I can't really check for spark without a second person. No one I know gets off until 4:30, which puts them here at about 5:30, about 30 minutes before the smog station closes.

there is no way to check for spark without a 2nd person. it sucks

also, are you certain yuour cam is degreed in right? also is when you pull the motor apart, gotta make sure the cam goes in right, then follow the timing instructions.. timing might be off, try twisting the distributor back, if it gets hard to crank, go the other way.

I think its your timing. Mine did the same thing when i put the motor back in and tried to fire it. It was the distributor that wasnt in right.

I had to put the disty in one tooth at a time until i got it right.

OH and im with Matt about you movin down here. I know plenty of people right now that would be able to help you.

The cam and timing is set right. It was done by the book, by my friend thats built a few motors.

I just checked spark, I got a second spark plug and put it on the #4 wire and cranked it. Theres no spark at all with the distributor wired both ways.

Bump.

I got about 2 hours tops to get this motor broken in before I am elligible for a revoked title.

I have no spark. There is power going to the coil. With a test light grounded the the head I get a light fromt he positive and negative terminals with the key in the ON position.

Hey seth, one way to check for spark by yourself is unplugging the wire from your coil to the distributor and leave it loose to where when you start it, it will arc. You will be able to hear to arc clicking.

Don't put anything flamable near the arc

another way to see if there is at least a signal to the spark plug to spark is install a timing light and watch if it flashes at u that would be a simple check, sounds like it is a spark issue, and u deff have fuel correct. if so then it is going to be a compression problem or a spark problem, especially if u now it is in time.
