I would assume that a parrallel 3 link setup with the upper link offset to one side would have the same effect as the offset wishbone when it comes to roll center?

What "sets" the roll-center of the vehicle is whatever is used for a lateral limiter. Sence the single upper bar of a 3-link does nothing to limit side-to-side movement, it does not set the roll-center.

Why couldn't you use a panhard bar or a watts-link?

It is probably because most people have witnessed improperly setup panhards, and how much side to side travel they can create.

I can understand that. I will tell anybody how to set them up right. Maybe I will put a how-to together.

Properly set-up, you can limit the side-to-side movement to less than an inch total. That would be less than a 1/2" in each direction. It could be even less depending on your system design.

Question...

Why are minitrucker afraid of side-to-side movement? I have not come across a truck that couldn't absorb a 1/2" of movement on each side.

My main concern is the rear fenders on my dually. the tires I have now rub occassionally on large dips. I will be stretching those fenders when I put my 22" semi wheels on and even then I wont have that much room to play w/ to tollerate side movement. That is my main concern w/ side movement.

I've allways set up panhard bars from one side of the frame to as far as I can to the other side of the axle, and adjust it so axle so its centered between the midle of the full arc.
