its basically a two link

the added bars keep side to side axle movement down ?

youll still need a panhard bar

really weak design tho

if u do it.. do it like thisit eliminates the weak points in the h

I am going to assume that the h-bars, as you are calling them, are to used as a 2-link and not as the upper bars of a 4-link.

If the bars are made into an "A" shape (bring the two bars to a common point at one end, not in the center of one bar,) you could get away without a pannard bar or other lateral limiter. But, the effort spent trying to design a system like this is completely useless. The 2-link design is a waste to start with and to try and make the 2-link even more...uhh, I don't even know what to say. It's just a waste of time.

Do your homework and learn how to design a proper 4-link. I will answer any question that you may have and you will be much happier with the finished product.

If you are wanting to use the 2 h-links for the upper bars of a 4-link... Don't! The suspension will be trying to pivot from 2 different roll centers and that just dosen't work.

I'm sorry to be so harsh, I'm only here to help...

Naw man don't worry about being harsh, just call it constructive criticism.I just thought it would be a cool idea, but im going to go ahead and finish up my wishbone.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Max, can you give me a quick retard friendly breakdown of the roll-center bit!?!
BioMax   +1y
On a wishbone set-up, the "single point" side of the wish bone IS the roll-center. No matter where the suspension is in it's travel, the rearend will be forced to rotate, side-to-side (articulate) around that point (I'm not going to spend hours going into why, just trust me) So it stands to reason, that having 2 wishbones means that you have 2 roll-centers. You will get a little bit of articulation, but the suspension will just be binding to do so.

Having just described that, The habbit of running the wishbone off to one side, creates an interesting effect. The rear suspension does not roll around the center of the truck, but off to the side where the single point of the wishbone is. That makes one side of the truck feel much heavier than the other while cornering?!?!

I have not yet figured out why the beautifully simple panhard bar is so dispised by minitruckers...

is there a way to setup a panhard bar without any side to side lateral movement through the suspension travel?
BioMax   +1y
Properly set-up, you can limit the side-to-side movement to less than an inch total. That would be less than a 1/2" in each direction. It could be even less depending on your system design.

Question...

Why are minitrucker afraid of side-to-side movement? I have not come across a truck that couldn't absorb a 1/2" of movement on each side.

The offset wishbone like seths truck allows him to clear the stock tank though. A little trade off in handling for a more affordable setup with otherwise good design characteristics when compared to 2 links or reverse 4's.
I would assume that a parrallel 3 link setup with the upper link offset to one side would have the same effect as the offset wishbone when it comes to roll center? Thats really only the other way I could think of doing it and clearing a stock tank on some trucks. Then you gotta run a panhard. I think the look of a wishbone over a parrallel 3 link w/panhard would be the deciding factor in that case.

Are you saying my setup is ugly Joel? Lol.

It is probably because most people have witnessed improperly setup panhards, and how much side to side travel they can create.
