shaving pillars

i was wondering what the best way is to shave the stock mazda plastic pillars? i dont want them to crack out or is that just something that will happen with time? thanks.

Why would he buy those Grant Pillars that shave the Plastic piece completely off the Truck ????. From what he is saying he wants to keep the Plastic pillars and just have the Lines removed from the Plastic ones. Plastic and Fiberglass dont mix . So if you just fiberglass the lines out it will eventually crack . I would personally fill the lines with Filler then fiberglass the Pillars completely wrapping over the Back edges . This will eliminate any cracking down the line

Doesn't this contradict itself? Saying Fiberglass and Plastic doesn't mix, then saying to do it? From what Ive seen and know. (Dad owned a hotrod shop building Fiberglass bodies for over 30+ years) Fiberglass and metal don't mix. What i would do is get metal pillars (if they make them) and shave them shut just like you would a door handle.

It was a simple suggestion. No need to get twisted.

Dude, just buy the metal ones. You will see the lines if you use filler, unless your a pro at it.

i used to have a single cab one and i just used bondo but just make sure its the gold one.it never cracks and it does not swell ethier so cheaper than grants metal filler plates, but it not metal just plastic though your choice...

If your going to use any fillers on plastic....you need to use fibertech. You should be able to get it from any auto body supply. Than just use glaze to finish it. My experience with this stuff is to use the glaze to get rid of any small imprefections.
Or just save your self the effort and buy the metal ones
