Any bits of advice before i begin my project? early model pathfinder, 1990. Is a full front clip swap the best/least complicated way. Is it a bit easier conversion since its an older one. Any extra bits of info would be a great help. I'll get an owner profile up as soon as i get crackin'.

There was one rolling around Sacramento a while back. They chose to swap in the whole clip, at which point you may look into a Toyota clip instead to get the 5 lug/ big brake options...
The rear suspension was pretty easy, if i recall correctly. It's a link from the factory, so hopefully you can get the drop you need with only minor modifications.
Good luck with the project!

thanx phil. would i need to put in a toyota rear end as well so as to get the 5 lug front to rear? (probably a dumb question)

I bought this 2wd beater for 300 bucks, I plan on using the whole 2wd chassis under my 94 and leaving it 6 lug. Well I guess I will only be using the clip too and building the rest out of box tubing from the firewall back. Never had a nissan before so I have no idea what Im getting myself into. I plan on starting it pretty soon now that My wedding is finally over and I have some time.

that makes me think of another question...any idea if the wheel base for the pathfinder is the same as the standard cab or the kingcab. i have a buddy that just dropped his 4-runner body right onto his 2wd pick-up frame. that would be real nice to do, just tweak some body mounts.

im building a 94 pathy right now. its getting a toyo clip from the firewall forward and a 3/4 frame from the firewall back. mines getting fully stock floored set for 22s. ill have some pics soon. mine is a 2wd 4 door pathy.

use a honda motor, make it front wheel drive.
save the x-cb for another build.

pretty sure the pathy is different from std or king cab hardbody but i could be wrong. My pathfinder is still sitting at my moms house so i cant measure it.

download the FSM at :

i dont think the frame mounting points are the same on pathys and pickups. they call pathfinders wagons in the frame section btw.

and make sure you use a 2wd truck frame and not a pathy frame as the front end is setup with control arms just like the 4wd. it'' be tougher to slam.
i looked into it myself for my 4 door

Well if I can ever get my projects rolling again, plan on building a new frame but I need to find my 2dr pathfinder manual for mounting locations. I believe it told me the wheelbase and most of everything else between all the models at the time (2wd, 4wd, short bed, long bed, ext cab, pathfinder 2dr, and 4dr). I know the 4 door version has the same wheelbase as a 2dr pathfinder so it seems they did use similar frames and shouldn't be different (but this may only apply to 4wd's). I have no idea what box it is in, and it may still be in FL from my move.

New update, I found the manual but do not believe it will help that much. The only real number it gives thats a help is the wheelbase, everything else was like cargo area. The following is out of an 1987 manual but it should apply to most hardbody style trucks and pathfinders.

STD cab 2wd and 4wd = 104.3 in2DR and 4DR pathfinder = 104.3 inEXT cab 2wd and 4wd = 116.1 inSTD cab long wheelbase 2wd and 4wd = 116.1 in (I assume this is a long bed)Crew cab Aussie with standard bed wheelbase = I wish I had one like yesterday

The other thing I see in the manual is the cartoon picture for jack locations. It looks like the 4wd frame is wider than the 2wd frame and needs and would need to be confirmed. The other thought I have is to measure a 2wd and see if the height between the frame and the cab, the frame height, and the depth of the frame below the cab is the same as a 4wd. I believe it will take some "correcting" to make it work but should give results that your looking for. Things like the 2wd steering columb to match up ect. I would also say yes the pathfinder has a "4-link" in the rear but also has a panhand bar on it. You may need to adjust the height of the frame mounting location as it might cause your axle to shift too much when lowered. Hope this helped your situation.
