Yeah I have a lincoln 140 and have never had a problem with it shutting off no matter how long of a bead I run.
Also I have used a 110 welder when building frames before and have had no problems and got great penetration, but it is all in the prep work. Your metal has to be extremly clean, you need a good solid clean ground, and take your time, double pass when needed. Of course i would love to have a 220 welder because like said before it is like night and day welding with a 220 and a 110 but it just doesn't fit in the budget.
