Good point....My lincold would weld for about a minute and a half and then cut off for about 5 minutes or more. Sucked whenever I was welding in my notch.

my lincoln 130 NEVER cuts off b/c of over use and i've backhalfed my truck, welded in notches, built the 3/4 frmae on my s10, etc.

i'd suspect something is wrong with yours jerry.. i've ran longer beads then a notch on mine with no problems.

Yeah I have a lincoln 140 and have never had a problem with it shutting off no matter how long of a bead I run.

Also I have used a 110 welder when building frames before and have had no problems and got great penetration, but it is all in the prep work. Your metal has to be extremly clean, you need a good solid clean ground, and take your time, double pass when needed. Of course i would love to have a 220 welder because like said before it is like night and day welding with a 220 and a 110 but it just doesn't fit in the budget.

i have been doing a lot of welding with my lincoln and haven't had any problems (knocking on wood!). i grind down everything that i am going to weld and grind for the ground so i guess i have been doing everything right as far as prep goes.

hey jerry, didn't you get a big ass miller welder?

oh, and where do you get all your metal and supplies? i go to temple steel and temple welding supply. they have some pretty good prices.

one of the guys at the welding supply place was going to show me and a friend of mine the plasma cutter and he plugged it into the wrong outlet and blew it the hell up. the guy i was with about jumped out of his skin when it blew. i thought it was funny as shit but had to wait to laugh until we left. it was one of the plasma cutters with the built in compressor. i think made by dragonfire or something like that.

hobarts got one with a built in compressor too, from what i hear, they arent worth the money.

i got quoted like 84 bucks for a 20 foot stick of 2x3 3/16 wall today. I almost want to buy the whole stick, but I only need like 8 feet. They cut it down for no charge as well. 4.20 a foot.

wow, that is a pretty good price. the place locally here quoted me i think like 160 bucks for a 20 ft stick of 2x4 3/16 wall. they don't charge for the first cut but each additional cut is like 25 or 50 cents.

my god....8 bucks a foot?!?! you could have it shipped from here cheaper than that lol.
