i still think the heim joint on the new low life video is funny when one can hold up his house while the other one can hold up 10 of his houses

Even on a fullsize...

If the thread is not being pulled on by suspension forces then there is no need for a grade 8 nut. 99% of the time the nut is only being used to tighten down on the bolt. And a grade 5 nut is plenty strong enough to provide sufficient clamping force.

That is why I said that a torsion bar adjuster nut should be high grade, the threads are being pulled on by the torsion bar.

So on my minitruck I have uniballs on my arms to connect to my spindle. I only need a grade 5 for that?
Also what grade is the Home Depot bolts?

...so a grade 5 nut will be fine. You should definately use grade 8 bolts though.

He also said it is safe to use a Grade 5 nut in cases where the nut does not receive any force, and is just a clamping device, such as attaching a 4-link bushing to a frame mount. However, I believe that in the case of your uni-balls the nut will be receiving a load from the suspension, so I would run a Grade 8 nut.

or just say screw it and run a grade 8.... stronger even though it is not needed wont hurt

Pootus- That would be my suggestion if you arent sure what type of loads the bolt is "seeing"

Seth- Good call... on an upper arm that isn't doing any lifting a grade 5 bolt is fine.

this is off subject as usual so sorry but,

Seth, since Max is a genius and it seems you are on your way to becoming one, why dont you try and get a job working at Bio? take a couple of years learning under Mr. Fish himself and then open up your own shop like you want! assuming Max is hiring of course! sorry for putting both of yall on the spot, it was just a thought! dont kill me for saying that please!
