there is no reason that the tank would be bad. i wouldnt worry bout replacing it. on a ranger there are no lines that are built into the tank. its all on the sending unit that mounts from the top.

just makes gettin the gas outa the tank to the pump easier.

I had that problem with my 77. It was just no gas getting up to the pump. So I just unhooked the rubber hose from the pump and siphoned gas up the line to where I could make sure gas was atleast getting up to the front of the truck to the pump. Then I connected the rubber line back to the pump and every thing was fine. Primed the carb with a litte gas down it cranked right up. Good luck!

ftw, drop a fuel pump in the tank, run new lines, bypass the motor driven pump, throw a filter and fpr on it and ride
