My truck started having trouble starting when I would get in it in the morning. Then it started happening in the evenings too. I thought the alternator was going bad, took it to autozone and it passed their test. I thought maybe it was a drain on the battery, so I started disconnecting the negative battery terminal when I left the truck for long periods. Got in it the other morning and click-click-click it finally started but it spit and sputtered till I reved it up... same this this evening. So, it can't be a draw on the battery? Unless it is so bad that it won't let it charge while it is running, but I have had all the electronics on for about a year and no problems with my wiring job, so I don't see why something like that would happen all of a sudden now.

Any ideas?... thanks!

i went thru 4 batteries & 3 alternators... before we changed the simplest of things a battery cable.... fixed it right up.... Oh & that happened out of nowhere. Drove fine then all the sudden it started drainin the battery.... just an idea .....

ya ive been having this same problem with my geo
been workin fine for like 5 years
now all of the sudden my battery seems drained every time i get in, it acts like its going to die but hasnt died on me for 4 months, for 4 months it just pretends like its dead. and takes a minute to crank over. even if i just drove it across town and got out for 5 minutes and get back in it still takes a second as if the battery didn't charge while i was driving. alternator is fine. battery is getting a charge too. i was wondering if it was a bad starter or messed up cable.

I work at autozone man, don't believe what they tell you all the time. Some of the guys that do the tests on parts don't have a clue what there doen. Testing it off the car is best (if it's relativly easy to get off). Prolly just a cable like the rest of the guys on here said. Good luck man.

had the same issue with my wagon. only the alternator was bad. so i replaced it and bought a new battery since i KILLED the other to a bad CELL. Sure enough the starter had something to do with it along with the battery cable....I tried the cheepest thing first to the most exspensive...

It hasn't killed a battery since.

sounds like the cable to me...be sure to check all your grounds & tighten all the cables on the starter!!
