Theres a big difference between the coolest idea and the cheapest idea. The coolest idea is to block it flat and let it do what it was designed to do....be painted. The cheapest and most common these days is to shave everything but the wheels off, wipe it down with 5 gallons of Z-grip, knock the head of the filler and spray 10 gallons of slick sand on it and guide coat it, then call it done.

I forgot to add to that, if you just like flat colors, check out hot rod flatz, they have some badass satin colors, flakes, pearls, very cool stuff.

You do know if you want it dull just put matting agent into your clear and it makes it dull. That way your shit won't fade in the sun cause you got it cleared.

I was talking to a paint rep the other day and he said because of the way primer is meant to work, by pulling in whatever is put on top of it to help bond, rolling primer too long can slowly cause the metal so rust from inside out from pulling moistor in. Dont know how true that is.

yes thats true. i wouldnt say it pulls anything in the primer thought. primer has talc in it, just like body filler, and is very absorbant. so primer will absorb water, and it will eventually get to the metal.
