We were about 25 Grand deep on Joel's Tacoma ( Mini Truck of the Year). But that was 4 months of intense hours on that baby, all windows out, cab off, bed off and a few hundred hours of airbrush work. I think 25 grand was still a good price for the amount of time working and sanding that thing inside and out. Here in California if you want a nice SHOW quality job your looking at spending anywhere from 8 to 10 grand for a single FULL color change. I just blew 12 grand ( my sponsored price) and I wish I lived in Texas or the East coast cause I would spend way less for a single color. But then I wouldnt get all the airbrushing that I'm getting for under 12G's

I say go out to a truck shows, hot rod shows or whatever and look at some rides and talk to some people and see the work and ask away to get a good feel of what your going to get for that price.

i start my paint jobs at 3500 and up.. and thats without buffing and polishing it for a show finish... and if i had to do body work id say 5-6 grand sounds about right...

Yeah 8g's not high in my book at all. But then again, whats expensive and whats inexpensive is different to everyone. I know in our shop it usually takes around 320 hours to do a nice show quality finish on a vehicle from start to finish. Well, figure 320 total hours...this obviously isn't a scuff n shoot of any kind....320 x 65.00 pr hr labor rate, you got yourself a 20,800.00 paint job! I don't care if its a mini, custom, low rider or a street rod, they all cost pretty much the same. Now i can see how that seems high to most, but thats what it cost to run with the biggest of the big boys, sorry. Now don't get me wrong, i've seen some nice 3-6k jobs, but NONE of them were like what i'm talking about. Go look over the nicest paint job you've seen with a L.E.D. flashlight and check it out good and then you'll understand what i'm talking about. Oh and as far as materials go, theres tons of great paints out there...and Sherwinn Williams is one of them, believe me.

What about if you want to refresh your current paint job, I have several areas with nicks and the hood and bumper have chips in it. There would be no body work in volved, just curious. Thanks JIMMY
