i want to sit my 1983 toyota sr5 hilux on the ground in a static fashion! i still want a killer ride. i am also thinking of a slight body drop. after a few measurements here are my thoughts:
change front to newer toyota shit, spindles, z-front clip, new crossmembers, 4 link and maybe a slight body drop.

im kind of stumped on the suspension aspect of it though- should i change the front to coils and put coilovers in the rear?

i want this bitch on the ground with no option of "up"

now thats a statement about dragging your shit! like the good-ol-days... if it drags and sparks its a rare delight. if you encounter road construction slow down! no option but drive and drag!

(sorry to be so long winded... had to get that off my chest and out so you guys can give me your opinions!

Oh the days of fighting to get a truck off a speed bump or up the driveway. I cannot offer much help as the way we did it the thing rode like hell. Good luck.

yeah i know... i want it to ride great! well, in between draggin the ground! lol. i thought of doing a basic rod style suspension conversion.... ive got a guy that is going to do all the work but hes a "bag" kind of new school dude. ive got to find happy medium betewwn yesterdays look and todays technology. and not kill my back in the process. ha

I would Z the frame, channel the floor, run koni qa1 coilovers in the front, and 4 link with konis qa1 coilovers in the rear. That will get you a nice hot rod low, with a nice ride.

that sounds good to me but from what i find the koni and qai are two diff coilovers. any specific one work the best or at a better price?

yeah but when its static and low as hell - there is no discussion about draggin, sparkin, baggin, etc! its the ultimate "this fucker is low" statement! lmao =)

I'm going to second the coilover front and 4-link with coilovers in the rear. If setup properly that will ride better than stock and it'd still be hammered. Anyone remember that red, 88-98 fullsize chevy, short box, standard cab, with cadillac front clip? It had coilovers on it and it was bad ass. It was features a long ass time ago. I think it had colorado customs wheels on it, 18's and 20's.
