If you wanna generate business have a "cruise night" on fri or sat and offer specials even to those who dont bring cars. Will encourage people to come to your business during the week too.

Great idea! Where are you thinking of opening? I'm up in Spartanburg, SC. If it's anywhere near here i'd love to help. I have helped open a few places, and have lots of contacts.

Dude, lets get together... Owning and operating a Drive-In theatre is at the top of my life goals list. I think it could be extremely profitable and fun if built and marketed properly.

Bring back the era of the 50's by offering things once a month like "As many people as you can fit in a car for $20". Or "Drive in your classic car and recieve 2 for 1 admission" You figure some money that you lose will be gained back on concessions. Plus a line of classic cars on a weekend night is just asking for attention. It's almost free advertising. Also at the very beginning of the season (opening night) always show the same movies. Like a triple feature with "American Graffiti" and other classic "car movies". Bring in some of the hot-rod guys, some of the young kids interested in the cars etc.

Oh its a dream...

we still have a few drive-in's in maryland. The one just closed in 2005 though Know you're trying to open but this drive-in near me is done in like 50s and stuffhttp://bengies.com/

Whats up Joel?!? Yes, sadly the Drive-In that was about 6 miles up the road from us closed. I was there for one of the final nights man and it practically brought a tear to my eye. I can remember walking around all of the cruise-ins and shows they had there back in the day. That theatre was the the "Bel Air Churchville Drive In Theatre" but everyone knew it as "The Big M" because of the restaurant of that name directly in front of the drive-in. The restaurant was owned by the same people and the ticket booth was attached to it, so I guess it was kinda one in the same.

My next tattoo is going to be the "Big M" logo on my forearm. May sound gay if it was just a drive-in theater, but it represents one of the major driving forces in my life. It's why I work as hard as I do now. To one day be able to own my own "Big M"

Enough rambling, but Johnz if you want to talk further about this as a serious opportunity feel free to e-mail me at matt@downtimedesigns.com
