There are a number of things that can cause poor reception. Im a level 2 certified cell repair tech, working on level 3 certification, ill help ya out if i can.
wow, thanks for all the responses and help, guys. here's the deal: i have a samsung blackjack, when i first got it I had 2-3 bars in the house most of the time, as soon as i got it i put a screen protector on it, and within a week of getting the phone, i got an aluminum case for it. I've babied the hell out of it, i think i've only dropped it once, and that was on carpet. When i had my razr, reception was'nt all that great in the house, but i never dropped a call, it never went under 1 bar. This started about a week ago, there was no mitigating circumstance to it crapping out, it just started sucking. I turn it off every 2-3 days (cause i've heard you're supposed to do that). In Arkansas, the interstates are where you get the best coverage about 80% of the time, now i get no service at all between the big town after mine and my house. My house is about a mile from the interstate, and i have no service at all in the house, except every once in a while. I took it to the ATT place today, the dude put a new sim card in and sed if that does'nt help, i can call the warranty line and get a new blackjack sent to me. It did'nt help at all. So if i got an unlocked phone from another provider, i could'nt use the internet? That's a big reason i got the blackjack, because i get my work assignments online and it's saved me from driving right past a new account to the other side of the state a couple of times.
