im sorry that i started my business when i was 21 and now at 23 have a cnc plasma table, brake press, mig and tig welders, hydraulic tube bender, vinyl plotter, and wow im broke and cant afford to buy 1 of every piece from every one of my distributors just to take a picture of. do all my own book keeping and cant afford to hier anybody no thanks for S/D for taking all the small local guys business because people dont wana pay state sales tax.

I love the guys that get all butt hurt about SD being the major player in the industry. They didnt start out that way so obviously they did a few things right along the way. You mean to say that if your business took off and everyone wanted your parts, you'd say "no thats not fair to the other shops out there?" BS.You need to differentiate your product and offer things SD doesnt offer. Its called business. Do the best you can on prices for other stuff, offer unique products and good service and hope for the best. Don't blame SD for doing things right and filling needs in the industry.
dave i would use you guys as help but last i known from my local friend kris dye you guys subbed out all your laser cutting. maybe since he left you guys bought a laser but whatever. i called trying to drop ship a part that non of my other distributors in the country had and i got the answer " we do enough volume now that we dont have to wholesale to dealers anymore". and yes i do have autocad as well as a few other engineering programs because i went to school for mechanical engineering, im a certified welder and i just wana make some products that nobody else sells now. whats so wrong with trying something riskey when your young, and taking a chance with a career?
thanks for the offer if i ever need something laser cut for for an exact tolerance ill keep you in mind. but my cnc does the job right now. i dont hate on S/D most of the parts on my eplorer came from you guys before i started my biz thats when jason used to answer the phone every time.

that exactly what im doing designing new products for vehicles that dont get much love. and of course the metal art and decor i thought it was a good idea since " nobody to my knowlage does it right now" and thought wow maybe i can change the whole direction of the biz and not have too worry about sellin parts one month to eat. i also do installs and 1 off stuff as well
i once had the idea of a truck so low that the frame could sit on the ground. you guys all stole my idea. i will not take you to court if you all send me a quarter...
wow i just checked my site stats and this thread has drove 6 times the traffic to my site lol. so anyways back to the origional topic. is anybody interested in mini truck decor type stuff? is that something i should persue because i have a Ton of ideas. i just wanted to find out if it was a good idea before i spent more time doing cad drawings for stuff that wont even sell. so what do you guys and gals think about the metal art / decor stuff?
Yes we've put up 2 buildings since Kris Dye left and one of them houses a 4000watt laser, I tried to find pics of it but can't find the thread right now. Also, Im not going to check all those sites but we do sell to them. Yes we do shy away from wholesaling, Ronnie @ LRD has that on lock so I push everyone inquiring about it his way.
