tom is right the float will stick or have a pin hole in it and will not shut off the fuel

so i rebuild the carb with new stuff and that should do it?thanks aprecciate the help

yeah my dad said that the float could be stickin or that if you dont have a vented gas cap or if the tanks not vented itll do that too.

Your gonna need to pull the plugs too & crank the engine over to get all the fuel outta the cylinders. PULL THE COIL WIRE, so there is no sparkin goin on in there lol! I repaired a spider assembly that went bad on a 4.3. It filled the oil up like you say is happening to you. I'd replace the plugs too, but you might be able to clean em if theyre not too bad.
