the best option is to modify the firewall.. Mine was already painted, so I was forced to modify the manifolds..

different truck with the same problem, my bros 99 really bad with 5.5" bd, we thought headers would solve it but it didnt...we modified the headers pretty easily. hes got pics on his profile of what we did to the headers, because it was the flange that was hitting the heater box, we moved the flange. check it out, it might help. good luck

Here is what I have notched so far. Headers suck by the way. I have it notched out enough to lay rockers right now. Not low enough. The bad part is, the pass header hits the heater core line where it comes out of the firewall. Gotta keep the heat and a/c. Did anyone who has done this before have to notch out more or less than this with stock exhaust manifolds or shorties?

we doin 1 right now and they hit on both sides but a lil nip here a lil grinder there and a patch panel and ur there. ooooo that is manifolds i mean

thats crazy, mine only hit on the pass, even with headers it didnt hit on the driver....
