3/16" is .1875". My bender will do it, I don't see why a ProTools wouldn't.

I use .120 wall because its lighter, and plenty strong. The .188 wall will bend the solid steel cotter pin that holds the die. Doug made that mistake with his, lol, had to get a replacement cotter pin.

Seth where do you live? I work at Industrial Metal Supply and we do free delivery to wherever for whatever, and we have plenty of DOM and 4130. We have 5 locations so maybe your in our reach?

Windsor, CA. Which is in Northern CA, Bay Area. The only metal supply places I know of are BB Steel, Reliable, and Van Bebber Bros.

tensile strength isnt a bad thing to pay attention when choosing steel, but should the last thought anyone has. Yield is what someone should worry about. Yeild is the point where there is a significant increase in strain, but little increase in stress. Typical it is best to stay under the yeild on anything you design. I only know that cause im a current engineer major for the 2nd degree. If you really want to figuire out how much something will deform (aka bend) go to google and type in beam2d there is a 30 day trial when u can add the part, and apply forces and itll tell you what it will bend unless you fell froggy and want to the math by hand and i can suggest a few sites or give you the formulas

i got too thick of the DOM. im going to look at some more tomorrow and see if i cant find some that will work better in my bender while also still keeping strength for when i start doing the bag on the upper bars. 1 1/4x11ga is what you all recommend?

I rarely use DOM for anything. I do use it on some of my 4-links though. I have never had a problem tapping seamed tubing.

i use dom for link bars but not for bridge work and suck...and if im putting a bag on the bar i only use square..and theres nothing wrong with over kill especialy when you lay your truck down on the pavment at 80 hahaha...over kill feels good then ..it ust can make you look like you second geuss your work...
