So here's my next set of ideas for the truck, before i get around to painting it and finishing body mods...

I came across a smokin deal on a 327 short block that's been rebuilt, and in good shape... Im contemplating buying it for these reasons-

1- doing the conversion on a traditional bodydrop doesnt seem too common, but i could be wrong. I know the swap is fairly easy especially if its carburated, but just worried about clearance issues with it being bd'd....my main concern is the firwall clearence...my 4.3 is squeezed in there pretty tight as it is... can anybody point me in the right direction to tech articles/write ups on doing the v8 conversion on a bd'd 2nd gen?

Im going to pick up a couple v8 conversion manuals before i decide to tackle it to see exactly what i have ahead of me..

2- Im curious if my 4l60 transmission will bolt right up or if i'll have to run a different transmission.. If it won't bolt up, im not too thrilled about having to shorten my driveshaft or have a custom one built..

3- the gearing in the rear end- Will it HAVE to be changed out?

Im not looking to race the damn thing, just think it would be sick with a built v8 under the hood just for bragging rights

Thats where im at right now, i was going to start welding the doors shut, but if I decide i want to go fourth with the conversion, that will be last on the list of mods... I also figured if i do the swap that this would be a good time to clean up my firewall and engine bay, tub it out more for the 22s, and clean everything up under the hood in general..

what would you guys do? say f*ck it and go for it? or celan up the 4.3, finish body and paint it, do the interior and cruise it? I really wanted to have the truck "done" by next summer, and im sure i can still get it done by then...

let me know if anybody's done a v8 conversion on a bd'd dime, i'd like to pick their brain about it..

thanks guys!!!
