most people know me for mazdas. what got me into mazdas was Derek Veenstras $6000 dollar cover truck. before mazdas were toyotas, inspired by a white 89-95 called "snow blind" and the lavender oil field truck that was on the cover of MT 94 ish. Before that was nissans, inspired by my neighbor with 15x10 kmc hammers and pink/teal splatter paint and Hollywood 15" subs.

My motivation was the first minitruckin I bought in late 89 with a friend from CA in a train station outside Chicago. He would talk about his toyota on cookie cutters, and I got interested and bought a copy. I can still see the chick in a yellow bikini sitting in a kiddie pool.

When I got to wichita in 90, I met a guy with a 82 Mazda with no suspension. at all. we banged around everywhere with that thing.

I think real inspiration comes from people who own the trucks, at least for me.

I don't think anybody mentioned them above. But I was already in the seen, but these two trucks were sick...and one of them still is! The best in my opinion is Mitch of Severed Ties old truck..."Cha Ching" will never die! Also Charles "The Kid" Armstrongs, "Time Machine"

Didn't have time to put up pics...but if anyone has any, post them please!...those two truck motivated me to get back into it hardcore! Or I'd have sold my car long ago! lol Thanks

Dan Marchese's Nissan definitely did it for me. I already had an xcab Nissan at the time, but when the issue came out with Dan's single cab, I was hooked. It was the red, body-dropped Nissan used in the BF Goodrich ads for many years. It had air shocks in the rear and hydraulics in the front.

and dont forget that it was quite possible THE TRUCK to start the 89-95 toyota bumper conversions in which are still popular today!

but bobby - im really sad that it wasnt my truck!

btw: my truck had a newer bumper on it BEFORE that truck was featured...
