ok so i talked to a couple of people at work and they think it could be the starter silinoid. when i turn the key it makes a click but nothing else. thoughts?

If you're hearing a click it could be the solenoid. I'm assuming the starters you are replacing are coming with the soleniod as well...

The only other thing I've seen that would cause a click but nothing else have been bad grounds, bad brushes in the starter, and on some vehicles, there is a starter relay....where is the clicking that you're hearing coming from?

ever since my original toyota starter went out on my truck and I replaced it with an autozone one I seem to go through starters every three months. the solenoids keep freezing up in them and I have to beat the crap out of the to get my truck to start. actually happened to me the other night at wal-mart, and I just happened to only have a few screwdrivers in the truck at the time so I had to use a screwdriver to beat on the solenoid, fun stuff. Can't think of why it goes through them so fast though. mabye I should just bite the bullet and buy another dealer starter. But I guess with the way its going with these rebuilt units I keep getting I would be better off in the long run b/c I'm sure they will only warranty it so many times before I can take it back. Original lasted almost 200k so that should say something. clutch lasted 190k. toyota dealer stuff is the shit even though I had to give my first born to buy thier stuff.

Like I said,go to the dealer & get the contacts for the starter, around $10 . Change them & you'll be good to go!

ok so i changed the starter with a brand new one today and guess what. same problem. i got a new one from orieleys, so at least the starter was free. so on to another suggestion.
