What types of car clips work the best for these trucks? I have done a yota clip swap before for a friend and it wasnt too bad. And I have s few old junkers behind the house so which one would work the best? Also with the car clip and cutting the bottom section of frame off and boxing it back will I get enough lift to clear a 255/35/20?

depends on what engine ur runnin. a gm engine with a rear sump pan needs a gm clip. a camaro clip is a good gm clip. a torino clip works well on that year truck

I'm running a 302HO out of a 89 mustang GT. I'm going to keep the fuel injection and all the electronics. I will not be running a GM or any other motor. I know on the older trucks you have to change the oil pan to clear the engine crossmember. Will there be any modifications to the oil pan once I swap clips? What year model torino clip is the best?

mid 70s mine was from a 77 and I had it in a 66 f100

Going with the torino clip will the engine crossmember and motor mounts be similar? Will the frame rails and motor moints be the same width as the truck clip? Will I need to stretch it width-wise? How should I adapt my front frame horns to the torino clip to get the radiator support and bumper to mount correctly? Do I need to just cut it off the front frame horns and weld them back together with gussets? How will the steering box mounting location differ and will I be able to re-use my stock steering box? I appreciate all your help with this project. I don't want to jump into it blindfolded. I have done plenty of fabrication work so I'm not worried about the difficutly I'm just wondering what is involved with the swap.

The clip fits well, the graft is easy, the front is easy to add the stock frame hors for the core support. The crossmember has a notch for the Ford engine. The mounts are already there or at least there are holes for mounts for several different engines. you may have to move the engine forward to clear the firewall. The engine in a car is farther back in relation to the wheels than on a truck.

I had a .60 over 460 with 429 heads in mine and I had to cut the crossmember and plate it a little to clear the massive 460 oil pan. I also lowered the engine down as far as I could.

Well this swap sounds pretty easy and the way to go with my truck so I think i'm going to get on the hunt for a mid 70s torino. Thanks for all your help.

cool man, you may have a time finding one of those still around but they fit great. plus they have regular arms with springs so it would be easy to bag. good luck

It must be my lucky day. I went down the road to my uncles and he had a Torino stripped in the woods behind his house. He used it as a dirt track car in the mid 90's. So I am going to get it this afternoon. Best of all its free.....!!!!
