I saw someone build an entire bodykit using fiberglass. so i got around to thinkin, cant I just use fiberglass to shave my door handles, tailgate, etc. i mean, i imagine it might build up some moisture over time and cuz some problems but has it been done and can it be done?

they make a glue for metal that is stronger than welding it. alot of body shops use it. my roomate used it to shave his doors and it worked great and they still look good, and it has been about 5 years now since he has done it. give that stuff a shot!

the fiberglass wont work, it contracts at a differnt rate than steel, so it will crack over time, because it doesnt have the same properties as steel when it comes to flexing.

If your trying to stay away from welding, then glue a patch like juicedmini said. The Fusor metal bond works well. However Ive had it shrink in the past when gluing holes for a spoiler.

The best way is still to weld it.

Whats the glue called i can use? and where can i get it? Also what all needs to be done, just put on the glue and sand it smooth?

the "glue" is called panel bond. go t oa auto body supply store and ask for some panel bond and they will know what u are talking about

I had my tailgate handle shaved on my daily driver and they glued it in place. In less than a week you could see a perfect outline of where the handle used to be. I took it back and they fixed and now on hot days it still shows up. I would just weld it up and not mess with the glue.

I used it to shave my doors and tailgate handle. It works fine but its all in prep i cut all the existing metal out of the pocket and made it smooth cut a square filler piece overlapping a inch on all sides and then used the (3m panel bond)you have to hold it there or find a way to clamp it then clean is mud it glaze it then prime and paint.

i have had it done for a little over a year no problems

i have always seen a line around the handle area when its glued in. i would not use it. weld it.

did it just like this on a s10 and you can still see a ghost line..you always will unless you weld it

no ghost lines but if its not done right your always going to see ghost lines i have seen plenty of welded ones with ghost lines
it all comes down to prep before each step weather it is glue in or weld in
