i've done paint in filthy shops that come out clean and clean shops that come out filthy. an exhaust fan really seems to make a huge difference with the amount of shit floating around in the air.

my old shop had a tube fan in the wall with the intake vent about 8 inches from the floor. sucked most of the dirt out of the garage down low so it wasn't floating up into the work. a little water on the floor just under the parts being sprayed and everything else in the shop was still filthy, but paint come out clean. a couple mosquitoes every now and then but not much dirt.

i had to spray some parts in the new shop before i had a fan in there and they were dirty as hell but the shop is cleaner than the last. also, painted block walls instead of posts and wrap.

a couple pounds of positive pressure is supposed to help too, that's how our booth is set up at work, but i haven't gotten that far in any of my garages. seems i'm always spraying with negative pressure in the room but it works.

Bro i have my own custom paint business and do show quality stuff in my garage so its not that. it could be a number of things when you do the body work do you make sure to go around the entire truck with a air nossel and blow every crack and crevise out because if you dont each time you pass with the gun w/ air and paint its going to losen that dirt then blow every where. The spots that dont seem to take to the paint can be caused by temperature or even if you use wax and grease remover it can still cause "fish eyes". Also this could have to do with the paint you are using. Go to your local Paint Supply shop and look into Single Stage Paint such as Omni or Centuri there really cost mild quality but cheap! Im not sure what gun your using but go to a Auto BOdy Paint Supply shop and get some "Disposable inline air filters" they go at the base of your spray-gun they are orange and look like a ball with air fittings at each end. Good luck bro

Not trying jack the thread or anything but omni is a base/clear product not a single stage.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but something nobody's noticed is what he said about running his air hose. Running your air hose up in the rafters is asking for dust and dirt to get knocked down on your paint job. Just run it over your shoulder and be careful. Painters drop cloths, chain over the axle, and wetting the floor is all I do, other than cleaning like someone with OCD.
